Raise Your Glass - Ein Prosit!

With over 700,000 visitors flocking to the celebration annually, Kitchener-Waterloo’s Oktoberfest has become the largest Bavarian festival in North America.

Since its launch in 1969, this unique event had grown to offer over 40 family and culturally based events. The festival runs from October 11-19 and is host to largest annual Thanksgiving Parade in the province!

‘Cars and Stars’ at Sunset Speedway

Our friends at Sunset Speedway are hosting a special two-day event this weekend – it’s what you might call ‘Cars and Stars’ – featuring top drivers from a variety of classes along with two well-known singing stars.

If you haven’t experienced the excitement of stock car racing, this is a great opportunity to see the best of the best on a one-third mile, paved oval track with steep banked corners that deliver edge-of-the-seat action.

The weekend kicks off Saturday, Sept. 28 with Canadian country signing star Jason McCoy, a multiple award winner both as a solo singer as well as part of the group, Road Hammers. After singing the anthems, and dropping the green flag for the first race, Jason will be available for autographs.

The day will feature qualifying races for all divisions including Late Model, Super Stock, Mini Stock, and OSCAAR Modifieds, the ‘bad boys’ of racing.

Another crowd pleaser is the Hurricane Midgets, tiny sprint cars powered by 440 snowmobile engines that reach upwards of 145 km/h (90 mpg), with so much speed they keep you on the edge of your seats.

Come back Sunday for another day of racing along with special guest star Veronica, a singer who has headlined on Family Channel’s Big Ticket Summer Concert as well as being featured in FAZE magazine.

The action starts at 1:30 p.m. Sunday

Celebrating Our Civic Holiday!
